This Privacy Policy explains what information CutDeck ("we," "us," or "the Software") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using CutDeck, you agree to this policy.

What We Collect

Information you provide:

• Your license key (entered into the plugin to activate your subscription).
• Information you voluntarily send us (e.g., support emails).

Information we generate locally on your device:

• A machine fingerprint (a hash of your computer's hostname, username, operating system, and architecture) used to verify your license and prevent trial abuse.
• A small encrypted file storing your license status and machine fingerprint, cached on your device so the plugin works offline.

Information collected automatically during use:

• The current CutDeck version installed on your device (sent when checking for updates).
• License verification requests made to Gumroad (our payment partner) when activating or re-validating your subscription.

What We Do NOT Collect

The CutDeck plugin is designed to be privacy-respecting. Inside the plugin we do not:

• Upload your video, audio, image, or project files to any server.
• Access, scan, or transmit the contents of your Premiere Pro timeline.
• Track your usage patterns, features used, or editing behavior.
• Share, sell, or rent your information to third parties.
• Use your data to train machine learning models.

Speech-to-text transcription (for the Auto Subtitles feature) runs entirely on your device using a local Whisper AI model. No audio leaves your computer.

Website Analytics

The cutdeckapp.com website uses Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors interact with the site so we can improve it. Clarity collects anonymous information about your visit including the pages you view, where you click, how far you scroll, and a recording of your session as you navigate. It does not collect your name, email, or any personally identifiable information.

This applies only to the website itself. The CutDeck plugin running inside Premiere Pro does not use Clarity and does not send any data about your editing to Microsoft. Plugin behavior is covered by the sections above.

For more detail, see Microsoft's privacy statement. You can opt out of Clarity tracking via your browser's Do Not Track setting or by using a content blocker like uBlock Origin.

Third-Party Services

When you purchase or subscribe to CutDeck, your payment is handled by Gumroad. They collect and store your billing information according to their own privacy policy. We do not see or store your payment details.

When the plugin checks for software updates, it makes an HTTPS request to our server and to GitHub (where the update zip is hosted) to download the latest version. These requests include standard HTTP headers (like user-agent) but no personal information.

How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect only to:

• Verify your license is valid and your subscription is active.
• Deliver software updates to your device.
• Respond to your support requests.
• Prevent abuse of free trials (through the local machine fingerprint).

Data Retention

Your license key and machine fingerprint are stored locally on your device for as long as the plugin is installed. You can delete this data at any time by uninstalling CutDeck or manually deleting the cache folder.

On our end, Gumroad retains billing records per their privacy policy. We do not maintain any separate database of customers beyond what Gumroad provides to us.

Your Rights

You can:

• Deactivate your license at any time through the plugin's deactivation button, which clears all local data.
• Request deletion of any information associated with your Gumroad purchase by contacting Gumroad directly.
• Contact us with any privacy questions or concerns.

Children's Privacy

CutDeck is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy on our website and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
